Covering Mental Illness with Care

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

There are several guides on reporting on mental illness, including the AP Stylebook and the Poynter Institute. However, these guidelines are fairly recent, and it's unclear based on news coverage whether reporters and editors are aware of and utilizing them. We break down the barriers and offer practical guidance on covering mental illness correctly and with care. We will offer examples of specific stories and open the session to audience discussion.
