With a housing crisis prompting emergency declarations in several states, poverty is increasingly part of the national dialogue, yet it is often downplayed in the news. As copy editors, how do we advocate for better coverage? How do we move beyond stereotypes in our editing? Join journalists from Portland street paper Street Roots for a discussion about covering poverty and homelessness with care.
